May 19, 2014

On the evening of Saturday March 18 the Leonardtown Volunteers were alerted to the area of 22459 Bayside Road for the Motor Vehicle Accident reported serious. Squad 1, Engine 11, Squad 5, Ambulance 198, Ambulance 197, Ambulance 599, and Medic Unit all made the response.

While units were en route police arrived on the scene and confirmed heavy entrapment. At this time Communications advised that a member was on the scene and was requesting a helicopter be started. This alerted Trooper 7 to the call.

At this time Lieutenant 1B arrived on the scene confirming heavy entrapment and established the Command. Next to arrive on the scene was Squad 1. Squad 1's crew deployed their Hurst Tools and began to extricate the trapped occupant. Engine 11 arrived moments later and established the landing zone for the helicopter.

Ambulance 198, Ambulance 599, Truck 1, and Squad 5 arrived moments later. Truck 1 deployed their Hurst Tools and along with Squad 5, worked with Squad 1 to free the victim.

Ambulance 197 arrived on the scene and assisted Ambulance 599 with assessing the other two occupants. It was then determined, after assessment of the other occupants, that Trooper 7 would be taking two patients and one would be transported to the local hospital.

At this time the trapped occupant was extricated and packaged for the helicopter. All patients were packaged and transported. Command was terminated and units returned to service. Units operated on the scene for approximately 45 minutes.
