By Lieutenant John (JW) Wathen
November 19, 2014

At 2352 hours Station 5, Station 1, Station 2, Station 7, and EMS Station 59 were dispatched to 38180 Beach Road for the reported working Garage Fire. Engine 14 (Lt. Wathen) and Truck 1 (Lt. Bell) responded shortly after dispatch with 11 personnel.

Chief 5 was first to arrive confirming a working garage fire, reporting a 2 car detached garage fully involved with extension to the residence. Engine 14 arrived on the scene and assisted Tanker 5 establishing water supply as 14's crew went to work in the garage to extinguish the fire and began mop up, Truck 1 arrived and began ventilation of the residence and conducted a primary search of the residence with negative result.

Command placed the fire under control within 30 minutes of initial dispatch and held all units operating on the scene. A single occupant of the residence was transported to MedStar St. Mary's Hospital for further evaluation. The fire ground was turned over to the State Fire Marshal's Office and Company 1 units cleared shortly after 0010 hours.
