The Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department is seeking firefighters, emergency medical technicians & administrative members. Training is provided and the benefits are great.
Getting started with the Leonardtown Vol. Fire Department
Cadet Member Requirments
- At least 13 tears of age to join as Cadet member
- No training required
- Complete apllication to include Gaurdians apporval
Probationary Member Requirments
· At least 16 years of age to join as Probationary Member
· No training required for new members
· Complete application to include full criminal background check
· Completion of pre-basic training after membership approved
· Completion of Firefighter I within 12 months of membership
· Attendance at monthly meetings and occasional special events
Benefits of joining the Leonardtown Vol. Fire Department
· Free Training: All firefighting, rescue and emergency medical training is provided and all courses taken can be transferred to a college for credits
· Retirement: Length of Service Award Program (LOSAP)
· Scholarships: for college students through county and state organizations
· Tax Break: $3,500 Maryland state tax break incentive for volunteers
