Company 1 Runs 2nd Due House Fire
By: Firefighter Chris Bell
Date: January 06, 2010
On 1/5/10 at 1511 hours, Companies 2, 1, 5, 29 and 19 were alerted for a working house fire at 29415 Point Lookout Rd. in Morganza. First arriving units found a single story, single family dwelling with smoke showing from the roof. Engine 14 arrived shortly after the attack crew from Engine 24 had made entry into the residence. There was heavy smoke damage through out the house which was caused by a furnace over heating and catching on fire. Engine 14’s crew cut the power off to the residence so that the remainder of fire attack could be finished. Engine 14’s crew also checked the attic for extension, which there was nothing found. Truck 1 arrived and their crew provided lighting, ventilation and overhaul as well as checked the house with the thermal imager for fire. The units did a good job controlling the fire within 15 minutes and units cleared the scene at 1611 hours. The fire was determined to have started from the furnace. There were no injuries reported. The Red Cross was also contacted to assist the family.
Units: Engine 14, Truck 1
Mutual Aid: Engine 24, Tanker 2, Engine 51, Water suppy 5, Company 29, Company 19
