Large Brush Fire Brings Out Volunteers

May 10th, 2015 at 14:12 hours Company 1 was alerted for a Tanker to 40600 Medleys Lane, for a Brush Fire. Engine 14 (Capt. Bell) responded with 6, Engine 74 arrived on the scene and advised a large brush fire involving a pile of tires and a boat, also with multiple small fires in the woods. At this time command was established and additional units were requested, Truck 1 (Lt. Wathen) and Brush 1 (FF. R. Trossbach) responded with a total of 7. All crews from Leonardtown worked alongside crews from Hollywood, Mechanicsville, and Bay District to control the fire. At 15:11 hours the Fire was placed under control and overhaul began. Foam Unit 136 made its way to the original point of the fire and was utilized to drown the hot spots with foam. Command was later terminated; crews restored there respected pieces and returned to service when ready.
