Garage Fire In Seventh District

On Monday July 11, 2016 at 12:57 hours Engine 5, Tanker 5, Water Supply 5, Truck 1, Tanker 1, Engine 2, Tanker 2, Truck 7, Engine 7, Charles County Squad 2, Company 59 and Company 29 were dispatched to 21468 Abell Road in Avenue, MD for a structure fire. Initial reports indicated a garage fire. Engine 14 and Truck 1 made the response shortly after dispatch.

Safety 5 was the first to arrive on the scene to find a 30' x 50' garage containing multiple vehicles that was heavily involved with fire. Engine 52 arrived next and began an attack on the fire. Safety 5 established the command and Chief 5A assumed the command upon his arrival on the scene. Engine 14 and Truck 1 arrived shortly after and assisted with the fire attack.

After the fire was under control, units began extensive salvage and overhaul operations. Once the fire was completely extinguished command was terminated and units restored their respective apparatus and returned to service. Engine 14 and Truck 1 operated for approximately 2 hours.
