At 0829 hours stations 1, 7, 19, 79, and St. Mary’s ALS were alerted to the intersection of Loveville Road and Busy Corner Road for a motor vehicle accident with reported people trapped. Rescue Squad 1 responded with 4 personnel shortly after dispatch, along with Rescue Squad 7 and various EMS units. Fireboard advised Rescue Squad 1 that they would have a single vehicle roll over with heavy entrapment. Squad 1 arrived on the scene with a single patient heavily trapped. Squad 1’s crew went to work stabilizing the vehicle with Paratech shores. Squad 1’s OIC evaluated the situation, and determined that a tree was obstructing the rescue operations process. Squad 1’s driver/operator was assigned the task of removing the tree, so that crews could have better access point. Squad 7 was next to arrive, assisting squad 1 with stabilization. At this time both Squad 1 and Squad 7 crews worked simultaneously to remove the doors, and roof of the vehicle. It took crews only 20 minutes to remove and package the trapped patient transport; both Rescue Squads were utilized to the fullest. |
