Colton's Point Road Barn Fire

At 0235 hours companies 1, 2, 5, 7, 9, EMS 19, and EMS 29 were alerted for a possible house on fire in the area of Colton’s Point Rd and Dr. Johnson rd. across from Chopticon High School.

Chief 5A was the first to arrive locating and advising incoming units that’s it would not be a house it would be a 60x30 barn fully involved. Engine 10, Engine 24, and Engine 52 arrived on location simultaneously. Engine 10 laid a supply line from the driveway, and proceed to the scene, while Engine 24 established the water supply. Engine 52 then proceed to the scene too assist with controlling the fire. Crews then went to work removing equipment, and the tin roof from the structure, in order to complete fire attack and overhaul operations. Truck 1 was utilized for scene lighting and equipment usage. Chief 5 established the command, while Chief 1A took over fire attack operations. Crews worked diligently through the morning for 2 hours overhauling and restoring apparatus. The fire is under investigation, and being handled by the Maryland State Fire Marshal’s office.
