Members of the Leonardtown Volunteer Fire Department joined other fire departments around St. Mary's County and Naval District Washington Company 14 (Webster Field) this weekend for a live training house burn, an exercise designed to sharpen their fire suppression skills in a controlled environment. The training involved setting fire to a donated structure, allowing firefighters to observe real-time fire behavior and practice extinguishing techniques. Multiple crews rotated through various fire evolutions to practice advancing of charged hoselines, interior fire attacks. Officers used the event to evaluate and improve crew management, communication, and decision-making under pressure. Team dynamics were a key focus, with an emphasis on coordinating movements and maintaining accountability. A special thank you to the Officers, members, and Auxiliary of the Hollywood Volunteer Fire Department for organizing the training.
